An early manifester of her ability at the age of four, Elle has been trained by her father to be an agent for as long as she could remember. Due to her age and inexperience unfortunate situations tended to unfold in her presence. Two years later at the age of six, she caused an electrical fire at her grandmother's home killing her.
Impressed with her electrical output tests were sanctioned on her by her father. These tests started simple at first put progressed into something more menacing, twisting the fabric of her psychology. At first the tests consisted of seeing how much voltage she could discharge: enough to power a lamp, city block, etc.
Next the tests took a barbaric turn seeing how much voltage she was able to take. Under normal circumstances there hadn't appeared to be much problem, but when she was soaked in impure water the electricity began to effect her, damaging part of her brain in the process. Psychologically and physically exhausted, Elle began to develop a love of tormenting and hurting others.
At the age of eight she caused a blackout in four counties in Ohio. By the age of nine she was diagnosed as a sociopath with paranoid delusions, and deemed unfit to live her life unsupervised, so she took permanent residence within the Company. Lithium was prescribed to her to help treat manic episodes during this time.
Her father has erased all of her memories regarding the testing with help of the Haitian, as a means to keep her under his control. Early discovery of her ability, training, and tests have allowed her to have superb control over her ability, and eventually tests faded away, replaced with more training.
As the years have gone by Elle was partnered up with Noah Bennet to watch Gabriel Gray, a lonely watchmaker in Queens, New York suspected of being a killer. After keeping a watchful eye, and spending time with him she began to develop feelings for him which she had a hard time understanding. Eventually her feelings got in the way of the mission causing her to want hide away with him. Though that plan didn't go as expected she returned to Bennet with the Haitian in tow, eventually have her memories of the assignment erased.
Having forgotten her first assignment she was under the impression that monitoring Claire Bennet was the beginning of the road to becoming an agent. Posing as a high school student, she befriended the girl for like five seconds before tormenting her with exposure having caught her using her ability on film. The next day however she found that the tape with the evidence on it had been stolen, and decided to go back to school for one more day before reporting back to her father with disappointing news. There she tried out for cheerleading where it was revealed Claire broke into her motel room stealing the tape. After try outs she went to the Cheerleaders house searching the place for the tape. This led to the two having a physical altercation with Claire being blasted out of a window, and Elle escaping before Bennet spotted her.
Months later she was ordered by her father to pick up some papers from Angela Petrelli at her home. Angela however wasn't home at the moment so she was greeted instead by Peter. Obviously flirting with him she shocked him causing him to freak out. Assuming that he already knew about abilities she blabbed about the Company, not wanting him to think of her as some kind of freak when his family was involved as well. Upon finding out that Peter could do the same thing she could her crush on him increased ten fold and they bonded briefly until Angela showed up kicking her out.
Deeming her incompetent her father decided to give her two partners instead of the usual one: Alexis Copeland and Caleb Green. The crush she had on Caleb was instant and she desired to make him her newest toy yet. Alexis on the other hand only served as target practice being blasted repeatedly for her smart ass remarks and because Elle just didn't like the woman. With their new assignments given to them, Elle figured she didn't need partners and can handle everything on her own starting with the capture of Nathan Petrelli. However, Alexis decided to follow her so she was immediately zapped unconscious, and dragged down to Level 5 to be raped by Flint. It was from there that Elle disappeared.
Arriving at the office of Nathan Petrelli, she tried to befriend the man before capturing him, but he proved to be a douche. After a game of cat and mouse he managed to subdue her and began an interrogation. Outsmarting him, she was easily able to capture him where she returned him to the Company. Thing was though, she had to go clean up a mess that someone idiot wasn't able to do concerning the security cameras in the building. After getting the job done she decided to get a slusho before returning to check everything out. Making sure that Nathan's office was in tip top condition she came across Tracy Strauss. The woman began to immediately great her last nerve so Elle decided to scare her away or maybe even kill her. Out of fear Tracy displayed her ability, so Elle wanted to capture her as a bonus to impress her father. She was nearly successful before she was tranquilized by Bennet, however she wasn't able to make him out.
Her next assignment would find her being paired with her hot partner Caleb, minus Alexis. On their way to Los Angeles they were prepared to take in Molly Walker. Things soon got interesting when it was revealed that Sylar killed the girl's parents and nearly her. Matt Parkman appeared on the scene and was eventually reported to be picked up later by the Company.
Returning to New York the pair were on their way to Suresh's to retrieve a list that Elle had overheard her father speaking about to Eden McCain. She however was sick of doing boring assignments and decided to have a day of fun with Caleb instead. He took her across the Brooklyn Bridge, and introduced her to the wonders of car jacking resulting in a high speed police chase. Eventually deciding to get back to business the two came across Mohinder Suresh instead of Chandra. Infiltrating his home they managed to recover the list, but upon returning back to the Company, her father revealed that he had been monitoring their progress. He wasn't exactly happy with Elle's new found relationship and the fact that they had been causing trouble all over town. So he separated the two leaving Elle stuck with Alexis.
On a boring late night, Elle decided to call Peter Petrelli. It turns out that he had wanted to see her for a while now, so she went over to his apartment. Things started out simple at first, she helped him practice his ability some, and gave him a haircut. After a little making out and brief nudity on Peter's part, they decided to take a walk. Sharing a slusho he decided that he wanted to go to the Company. Seeing nothing wrong as long as she didn't show him anything important, Elle agreed. Taking out the security cameras Alexis was alerted to their presence and began to attack Peter. After he subdued her and killed a janitor he pushed her on the elevator hitting Level 3. Finally realizing what was going on she witnessed Peter's shock expression at finding his brother locked up. Trying to calm him down and preserve her standing in his eyes, she watched in horror as he temporarily shut down the grid containing Nathan. Her father and other operatives arrived on the scene but her mind was conflicted over what to do. Not wanting to hurt Peter, she only blasted him with low voltages and allowing him to escape. Disappointed in her performance her father benched her temporarily.
Distraught over her barring from field assignments, Elle was strolling through Central Park where she spotted a mysterious female sneaking glances at her and eyeing her warily. Needing to get to the bottom of this, Elle gave chase killing a cab driver in the process. Luckily she was skilled enough to not be suspected and people thought the unknown figure was the one responsible for the man's death. Following her across a bridge, it turns out the woman was Tracy Strauss. Witnesses were fearful of Tracy so Elle used this to her advantage to make the woman seem insane. Turns out Tracy thought Elle was after her, assuring her other wise the two went their separate ways.
Sometime later Elle found herself caught outside in the rain without an umbrella or coat. Not wanting to get soaked she waited in the doorway of a store hoping the rain would pass. Peter however just so happened to be passing by and offered to help her get out of the rain. Taking him up on it they went to his apartment where they changed clothes. Giving her ice cream to eat while he gulped down a beer, she watched Spongebob on television. Elle couldn't understand why their was no animosity between them considering the hand she had in Nathan's capture, and even though he blamed his mother she couldn't help but think otherwise. He began asking her if there were more people locked away like that in the Company, but she assured him that they were bad people and that they were better than them. This however caused him to get angry and start floating in front of her. Believing that he knew about the ability to fly beforehand she felt betrayed, assuming that he didn't trust her enough to tell her. Not only that but she felt that the connection they had was broken being that they didn't share the same ability. Zapping him out of anger, she ran to the back room to put her wet clothes back on and leave, but he zapped her causing her to crumple to the ground in pain. Realizing what he did, he tried to apologize, but she was having none of it. Despite being wet she sent tremendous amounts of sheet lightning in his body knocking him out of a window where he fell to his supposed death. Wanting to see the body, she noticed that he was getting up, and he ran off. Not knowing what to do she called her father to report it but felt bad afterwards. Going after Peter to try and win his friendship back, she called Caleb instead when this proved unsuccessful. Peter however called Nathan and the four began a heated confrontation.
Thereafter her father decided that he wanted to get to the bottom of the incident that took place on Level 3 with Peter. After sassing him, he used the manipulation tactic to pull her back in, but decided to lock her away. The conversation that she had with Caleb a few days before went through her mind and she questioned his love for her. Assuring her that he cared about her still he left. As the door closed she discovered a letter by Caleb taped to the back with a key inside. Telling her this was her time to leave, using the key she did so.
Escaping though wasn't as easy as it seemed. It was cold and snowing and Elle didn't have her cell phone or car for fear that it may be bugged. Wandering the streets of New York she came across her old mentor Riley Samson who'd been enjoying a cup of coffee. Turns out her father sent him to retrieve her, but he did nothing of the sort. Instead he took her to a hotel where she'd be safe and covered for her. Once he left, Elle decided to call Caleb to tell him about her escape. Shocked that she even took his advice, he quickly came to see her. After talking briefly the two spent some quality time together and rekindled their relationship.
Moving in with him two days later, he surprised her with her own personal Winter Wonderland after much teasing, as well as a fireworks show. Declaring his love for her once more, she received a charm bracelet from him that once belonged to his mother. Grateful for the gift, they returned home for some fun under the sheets. The next day Elle woke up alone as Caleb had gone to work. In search of food she destroyed the kitchen and burnt his favorite waffle iron and called him to come back home and she could've swore she heard her father's voice in the back ground. When he arrived he cooked them breakfast but revealed that he had found some information on her in the Company's Archive Room and saved it in a flash drive. Viewing the contents of the drive on his laptop she was shocked to find out about the tests her father sanctioned on her. Emotionally and mentally unable to handle it she regressed to a child like state crying uncontrollably, her powers overloading. With Caleb there to comfort her she fell asleep in his arms. Things didn't last long as usual and her father sent out a group of agents to retrieve Elle. Still in a panic there wasn't much that she could do as Caleb fought to protect her. Blasting an agent out of fear and stabbing one in the ear with a stiletto, the joy of killing snapped her out of her infantile state. Going to help Caleb, an agent somehow managed to survive and shot a bullet at her deeming her too much of a hassle to bring in. Caleb jumped in the way to save her, and after initially being distraught she made use of her Company training and patched him up, but he was still in critical condition. So together they made the decision to go retrieve Claire Bennet's blood to save him.
They tracked Claire down at the Odessa High Homecoming Game, where she was running from Sylar. Shocked at the outcome, Elle tried to get away as well, not really prepared for such an encounter. However; Claire, Elle, Casey, and Caleb were all pinned to the wall and prepared to get their heads cut open for abilities. When Sylar approached her something immediately sparked between them, halting his attack just in time for Peter to arrive and save the day. Taking the kids, the pair escaped to Vegas. While in Vegas, Elle wandered off by herself in hopes of exploring the city, not wanting to be stuck with Casey or Claire, or babysit the injured Caleb forever. It was at that moment she was talked by Sylar. Using her skills as an agent she was well aware that she was being followed and as such tempted him to go in for the kill, even doing things that would put herself in danger. Even still that connection that was felt at Homecoming was detected by the both of them again, and there was an indescribable need to be with each other that resulted in a night of passion. After their lovemaking Elle called him by his name, which freaked him out and reinforced that there was indeed something between them. The next morning that spent the day together, killing, shopping, until Caleb found her in the streets with Sylar. Elle never really loved Caleb and was just using him to feel an emptiness that Sylar managed to complete. So she broke up with him. In a rage the man fired shots at Sylar, which resulted in his death via the serial killer.
The two went on to leave Vegas and traveled the desert going various places, on the way to New York. However, by the request of Elle, they made a pit stop in Disney World where Sylar set up a variety of surprises for her. However, in his desperate need to be with her, Sylar raped her much to his own dismay. Elle was distraught but the bond that she had with him both recent and unknown was too strong and she forgave him, unable to to turn him away. Wracked with guilt, Sylar was able to empathetically gain her ability.
After a fun-filled stay during the night, they traveled North to Virginia to collect the ability of Zane Taylor and then onward to New York. In New York, they immediately made their to the Company where her father injected them with the blood of Adam Monroe which restored their memories of their deep romantic past together. Sylar was upset with Elle's betrayal initially but forgave her, but was still taken under company custody and kept within Level 5. Elle visited him every day and as much as possible, bringing him food, blankets, an air mattress, books and a variety of other things; giving him far more special treatment than any prisoner. One day however an entity by the name Ripper appeared, seeking Sylar to take his ability, ability, abandon Elle, and become like him. He however turned down the offer prompting Ripper to briefly attack and escape after Elle found and injured him.
Immediately, Sylar grew restless with being stuck in the Company and killed a few ill-behaved agents and prisoners and notified Elle who was with Peter at the time. Elle assisted him and together they fought Peter and made their way to Elle's apartment. Things were fairly normal, other than Elle getting in trouble here and there. Soon she began feeling incredibly sick, and it wasn't until a trip to the grocery store that she discovered she was pregnant. Too immature and not prepared for motherhood, she began avoiding Sylar and freaking out, on the verge of losing what shred of sanity that she had. When she told Sylar the reason why she was acting as she had, he calmed her down and convinced her to keep their child as they made the preparation to leave New York.
